Week 7 - Friday 13th June
Welcome to the first edition of Stagecoach NewsFlash! Every week, check back on the Parent Portal to stay up to date with all the exciting things our students have experienced in that week's session! Early Stages
After 7 weeks of brilliant work, Early Stages are nearly ready for their performance! In Drama, students rehearsed their Show Poem - focusing on projection, diction and expression - before completing Scene 4 and choreographing their final positions. In Singing, they tightened the vocals on Hakuna Matata and began refining Can You Feel the Love Tonight, practising smooth tone, volume changes and expressive storytelling. Dance saw the completion of Just Can’t Wait To Be King and Martha was thrilled with how well students have memorised each routine. Their other numbers are looking just as strong! With just a few weeks to go, Early Stages are showing fantastic progress and growing confidence. We’re excited for you to see just how much they’ve learned — they’ve been working so hard across all disciplines and their enthusiasm is infectious!
Stage 1
Stage 1 were delighted with the results of last week’s Oscars Vote! In Drama, they continued building their Encanto-inspired piece by polishing individual lines and deepening their characterisation, all while improving projection and focus. In Singing, the success of I’m A Believer brought big celebrations, followed by a focus on breath support and posture — helping students sing confidently and clearly. In Dance, Stage 1 expanded their I Like To Move It routine, with Kira guiding them through sharper, more precise steps and improving their positional awareness. Stage 1 have now entered the Polishing Weeks, and their energy is electric! They’re throwing themselves into each session and working as a team to strengthen their final performances. With just a few weeks to go until showtime, it’s clear that Stage 1 are ready to shine and are building something truly exciting for the big day!
Stage 2
Stage 2 brought lots of energy to their sessions this week after discovering the results of the Oscars Vote! In Drama, they jumped back into their Barbie-inspired piece, developing their character work and facial expressions to reflect the big, bold world of the show. Nicki encouraged them to exaggerate their performance choices — and it’s paying off! In Singing, the group tackled Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious with impressive focus, honing their breath control, diction and rhythm to keep pace with the fast tempo. Dance was all about refining their Footloose routine, with Kira breaking down tricky sections and ensuring the group feel confident and in sync. Stage 2 are stepping up week by week — their teamwork, commitment and performance skills are coming together beautifully. There’s a real buzz in the room each Friday and it’s clear they’re determined to deliver a standout performance!
Stage 3
Stage 3 launched straight into polishing their winning Oscars pieces this week! In Drama, they delved further into their Murder Mystery inspired by Knives Out, refining plot details and building suspenseful moments. Nicki praised their creativity and collaboration — it’s shaping into a gripping and clever piece. In Singing, they began refining Footloose, focusing on pitching, choreography integration and breath support to bring power to the track. In Dance, Kira guided them through their high-energy Queen routine, pushing for precision, stage presence and stamina to match the rock concert vibe. Stage 3 have embraced the challenge with maturity and flair; each session they build stronger momentum towards the big day. Their collection of Oscar-winning pieces is shaping into a diverse and dynamic showcase — they’re absolutely on track to deliver something special!
Further Stages
Further Stages are building a fabulous showcase for The Stagecoach Oscars — and yes, there are surprises in store! In Drama, they refined their uniquely narrated piece through voice work, blocking and transitions. We’re keeping the theme under wraps for now... but it’s an exciting one! In Singing and Dance, students focused on polishing transitions, ensuring clean movement between routines while sustaining energy across contrasting styles. Fionne and Oona have been incredibly impressed with the maturity and focus shown this term — especially from our newer joiners, who’ve quickly found their feet and contributed excellently to the creative process. Alongside their core routines, the group also explored how their intros and linking moments shape the bigger picture of the performance. Further Stages are pushing themselves in all the right ways and setting a high bar. They’re well on their way to delivering a standout final act on the 4th July!
