The Stagecoach Oscars

Important Reminders

When/Where Is It?

The Stagecoach Oscars for Main School and Further Stages (Students Whose Sessions Run From 4:30pm-7:30pm) is on Friday 4th July at Horsforth High School (Usual Entrance).

What's The Dress Code?

The Dress Code is 'Dress To Impress!' - Students and Parents are invited to attend the Oscars Ceremony in fancier clothes than usual - think Disco or Party outfits - anything that fits the glamorous theme of 'The Oscars'! However, please ensure that students' clothing is suitable for dancing and they still wear their Jazz Shoes.

What Time Should I Drop Off?

Please drop off your students at 4:30pm at the usual entrance in Horsforth High School (Same As Normal).

What Time Does It Start And Finish?

We will start letting parents in at 5:45pm and then The Stagecoach Oscars will begin at 6:00pm.

If your child has misplaced their script and needs to look over their lines before Friday, you can download a copy down below!

Early Stages

Early Stage continued to refine and develop their wild performance during this week's classes! We are very much in the 'Polish Stage' of the term; circling back on key fundamental skills: projection, use of facial expressions, accurate memorisation of choreography, lyrics and lines - all to further solidify their confidence levels ahead of the 18th July! Martha was very pleased with their sustained energy throughout the session, it's clear the students are starting to see 'the big picture', and it's clear that their pieces are benefitting from their brilliant enthusiasm. This week's session was the final one to 'spot-check' the show - diving deep into specific sections to clear away uncertainties! In the next couple of weeks, we will aim to run the show - start to end - as many times as possible, to prepare our students for the big day! They've worked so hard and it's truly impressive what they've achieved so far! We're very excited to share their progress with you in a couple of short weeks.

Main School &
Further Stages

We are very excited to welcome you in for The Stagecoach Oscars on Friday 4th July! This session, our Main School and Further Stages students joined forces to finish piecing together the Ceremony focusing on area-specific performance technique, practising transitions and ironing out any remaining issues before the big day!

The session started with a whole-school Dance Warm Up, properly preparing our students - physically and mentally - for a productive session! The team then quickly split off to target specific pieces/areas of the Ceremony which needed attention; correcting staging, memorisation of speeches and understanding of the Running Order before the large rehearsal.

Once our team was satisified with the pieces, we began the whole-school rehearsal of The Stagecoach Oscars incoporating the planned 'Waiting Areas', use of the Running Orders and - most importantly - managing the transitions between pieces (sometimes involving large amounts of students and props).

The team emphasised a number of areas during the rehearsal: overall projection during songs and drama, waiting for audio cues before transitions, interaction with the audience, general positioning on stage and - most importantly - performing to the audince!

By the end of the day, the team was extremely pleased with their incredible focus, dedication and energy during the session - they are definitely ready to welcome you for an incredible selection of performances on Friday 4th July! We hope you are excited to attend.
