What a show! Congratulations to our Friday and Saturday Schools for two fantastic performances of The Stagecoach Oscars! The event sparkled with everything we value at Stagecoach – creativity, confidence, and hard work. A huge thank you to our brilliant teachers for planning such a rich and diverse scheme of work this term. The result? Two unforgettable showcases bursting with variety, energy and heart.

🎭 A Term Full of Stars: The Learning Journey

For Summer Term 2025, our students explored an exciting new theme – The Oscars – as part of our annual Demonstration Term. This gave students a chance to develop their performance techniques and experience a wide range of styles across Drama, Singing and Dance.

In the first half of term, each Stage explored a selection of Oscar-nominated and Oscar-winning pieces. After that, students took part in an Oscars-style anonymous vote, choosing their favourite piece (from those already explored) to develop for performance.

In the final sessions leading up to the ceremony, each Stage worked hard to refine their chosen pieces – developing character, storytelling, musicality, technique and more. We were very impressed by the standard of performance for each Stage after only 4 or 5 weeks' practise and development!

Our Stage 3 and Further Stages students also stepped into the role of comperes – rehearsing their speeches and refining their delivery. All students then worked together to rehearse the running order - creating smooth and simple transitions to help the performance flow.

This term wasn’t just about performance – it was about student choice, collaboration and giving students ownership of their creative process. We hope they enjoyed the journey and discovered their favourite styles along the way.

🌟 Highlights from the Ceremony

It would be impossible to celebrate every single performance and individual achievement – there were simply too many to count! But here are just a few standout highlights that showcase the range, creativity and growth we saw last weekend.

Drama Highlights:

  • 🎭 Encanto (Friday Stage 1): Full of bold, unique character choices – a brilliant display of commitment and imagination.

  • 🐠 Finding Nemo (Saturday Stage 1): A heartwarming debut from many students who’ve only just graduated from Early Stages. A very proud moment!

  • 🕵️ Whodunnit? (Friday Stage 3): Original, dramatic and delightfully tense – fantastic use of suspense and character interplay.

  • 💄 Barbie (Saturday Stage 2): Energetic, eccentric and brimming with personality. A perfect contrast to the other themes explored!

  • 🔥 Further Stages (Friday): Selection of wild characters and eccentric plots - focused character commitment and humorous performances!

Singing Highlights:

  • 🎶 I Do Anything (Saturday Stage 2): Joyful, cheeky, and full of expression – with excellent projection and playful choreography.

  • 🌀 Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (Friday Stage 2): A tongue-twisting triumph pulled off with style!

  • 🌠 For Good (Friday Stage 3): Emotionally mature and beautifully delivered – a true highlight of the ceremony.

  • 🌹 Beauty and the Beast (Saturday Stage 1): Gentle, lyrical and full of heart – a lovely moment from our youngest Main School performers.

Dance Highlights:

  • 🥳 A Little Party (Saturday Stage 2): What an opener! The energy was electric and set the tone for a dazzling show.

  • 👠 Footloose (Friday Stage 2): A dynamic, high-impact routine with powerful chair choreography and heaps of style.

  • 🎸 Queen Medley (Friday Stage 3): Full throttle from start to finish – the room was rocking!

  • 🎭 Musical Theatre/Commercial Medley (Friday Further Stages & Saturday Stage 3): A well-earned fan favourite – bursting with confidence, presence, and professional-level performance. Oona was absolutely thrilled!

🔮 What’s Next at Stagecoach?

There’s still more to come! At the time of writing, we still have two more sessions of term - finishing on 18th/19th July - and our teachers are looking forward to finishing the term on a high and celebrating everyone’s progress.

🌞 Over the Summer Holidays, we’re also thrilled to launch our first ever Stagecoach Horsforth Holiday Camp – hosted at Robert Craven Hall, Bramhope (LS16 9AZ) alongside our usual Summer Holiday Camps at Gateways School, Harewood (LS17 9LE). You can find all the details and booking information here.

🎬 Coming This Autumn: Music Videos & More

For Autumn Term, it’s time for Skills Term – and this year, that means something new and exciting...

🎥 Each Stage will create their very own Music Video! These will be professionally recorded and shared with parents at the end of term. There might even be a Stagecoach Music Concert for just our students to celebrate together the term's achievements... 😉

Meanwhile, our Friday Further Stages and Saturday Stage 3 will begin their Show Term journey, culminating in a fully costumed Musical Theatre performance in November. The show title will be revealed soon – watch this space!

🎉 Final Congratulations

We’re so proud of every single student who took part in The Stagecoach Oscars. This term has been a shining example of what Stagecoach is all about: student-led creativity, joyful collaboration and the development of real performance skills.

We can’t wait to continue that journey in the new term. Until then – enjoy your final sessions, and once again: a huge congratulations to all our Main School and Further Stages students for their incredible performances in Summer Term 2025!
